Williamsburgs Wedding Season Is All Year Long!

On Saturday the 21st of 2012, we here at Colonial Gardens had the pleasure of preparing the inn for a delightful couple to exchange vows.

Mr. & Mrs. Michael Parenzen of Richmond....By way of Texas I might add, made a beautiful Bride and Groom as you can see.

Cherity wore a simple and delicate champagne gown and carried almost two dozen petite, ivory roses while the Grooms dark suit was set off by his ivory satin tie & double rose boutonniere.

Ms. Fenwick officiated the civil ceremony.

They dined by candle lite at La Yeca, one of Williamsburgs best restaurants.
Best wishes to the happy couple! We hope to see you back on your anniversary.

Williamsburgs Newest Sensation Does Not Fail!

Once again last night I found myself in the familiar position of sitting in a Williamsburg restaurant, this time however, I was thoroughly surprised, yet I am not sure why. Did I really expect anything less form Chef Hans Schadler?

Since leaving his post as executive chef for Colonial Williamsburg, and his stint with River’s Inn in 2010, he has focused his attention on his trendy and exciting new restaurant "Waypoint".

I spent several hours there last evening and enjoyed thoroughly every moment of it. Starting at the bar with bartender ( Nate's ) recommended glass of Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, It was a good choice at $10 per glass, $9 during happy hour, the pour was generous; I am sure the happy hour crowd in Williamsburg will soon be flocking.

I chose to skip the appetizer and move straight on to the main course selecting a large cut of beef, the New York Strip and not just any NY strip this was a CAB cut of beef that blew my mind. For those of you who do not know what that is, listen up.

The Certified Angus Beef ® brand is the best Angus brand available. It's a cut above USDA Prime ( which you find in most high end establishments ), Choice and Select. Ten quality standards, including abundant marbling, ensure every bite is exceptionally flavorful, incredibly tender and naturally juicy.

There you have it! I asked for my steak to be done a hair over medium rare and it was done exactly that way, melted in my mouth, there are no words to describe to you how flavorful It was. Accompanied by the most elegantly prepared scallop potato, ever so thinly sliced in just enough sauce to give it taste that would tease the palette not lay in your stomach.

My friend enjoyed the Crab Cake appetizer asking for a dinner size portion. Of course I could not take her word for how wonderful it was, I needed to check this out myself...."AAHHHHHH" delicate with a slight lemony flavor, this was by far the best crab cake I have ever eating in my life! So there you have it. My take of the newest and sure to be one of the best restaurants in Williamsburg.

From now on they can expect to see us here at Colonial Gardens Bed and Breakfast sending many a guest there.

Remember whenever your travel plans take you to Williamsburg Va, you will enjoy our luxury accommodations as well as our recommendations.

Williamsburgs Best Restaurant

I always say I have three favorite restaurants in Williamsburg, now its four! Ron an I dined at the Sea fare on Route 60 a few nights ago and it really was lovely.

I enjoyed the traditional Surf and Turf which consisted of an 8 OZ fillet accompanied by a rather large lobster tail that came with a baked potato. I am extremely discerning when it come to food and wine but I also want as much bang for the buck as I can get. This meal did not disappoint. Although I would point out that the steak was a few degrees over what I asked for, it was not to far off and the lobster a smidgen dry I really do not think it would register with to many folks. I think it was just left under the warmer a few minutes too long, our server seemed busy.

Ron's dish was a rather attractive skillet bake with scallops, shrimp, lobster and a white fish. He also enjoyed it.

The restaurant itself is very well done with nice tufted leather booths and low soft lighting although maybe a bit too low if your in need of readers. The service was really professional and on Target for the most part and the best part of the evening for me was having a traditional bananas foster prepared for me table side, how sweet it is....

Running the Colonial Gardens Bed and Breakfast here in Williamsburg Virginia is a tough Job! I have to go out to eat often in order to make sure I am giving our guests the most up to date information on what goes on around town... Or a least that's how I justify it to my husband, Ron :)

I give Sea fare in Williamsburg 4.5 stars! out of 5

This would be a great place to take your date for Valentines dinner in Williamsburg
